Wordpress not updating

In this example I am going to use the name ‘Word Press’ as my alias.

Pages: 1 2 3 This entry was posted on Thursday, September 6th, 2007 at pm and is filed under IIS 6.0, PHP.

There are thousands of forum posts opened everyday not only on Word but also on other forums and of course nearly every theme developer’s support site regarding very common issues that can be solved very quickly and easily.

I’m sure theme developers and community members are pretty bored of answering these questions over and over again, so I’ve decided to write the following post which addresses some of the most common Word Press theme issues so you can bookmark it and have it ready at your disposal.

To create a new My SQL database open the My SQL Command Line utility and execute the following commands CREATE DATABASE wordpress; CREATE USER ‘wordpress’@’localhost’ IDENTIFIED BY ‘wordpress’; GRANT SELECT , INSERT , UPDATE , DELETE , CREATE , DROP , ALTER ON `wordpress` .

* TO ‘wordpress’@’localhost’; FLUSH PRIVILEGES; We have now created a dedicated database which Word Press will use and an associated user account which has permission to add and delete content in that database.

Once found zip it and upload via Word Press or upload the unzipped folder via FTP.

You’ve got your theme installed and now you are uploading a sample file the theme developer was so nice to provide you with and yet again you get an error!

Word Press is a free open source blogging platform which requires both PHP and My SQL and is renowned for its “Famous 5 Minute Installation”.

However, it was because the installation was taking considerably longer than 5 minutes that I decided to start writing my own installation guide.

This walkthrough only covers the actual installation and configuration of Word Press itself; it is assumed that you already have PHP and My SQL installed and working correctly on your IIS 6.0 web server.

You can follow any responses to this entry through the RSS 2.0 feed.

You can leave a response, or trackback from your own site.

So you should first of course read the documentation files, but if there aren’t any head over and create a new page, while in the editor under to set it as your static front page option.
