Hey all, I have a manager at my company who is very heavily pushing maintenance to our Quickbooks system.
Situation 2 – The Error Occurred Updating a Quick Books Payroll Service Check your Internet Connection Setup in Quick Books from the were set correctly, the error may be caused by security or firewall software blocking access to certain programs.
If you do not let the QB database server know where the data files are, those files will not be made available to clients.
To make everything a lot easier, place your data files on a shared folder on the root of C:\ (such as C:\Data or C:\QB) and make sure everyone who needs access to the file has full rights. In the Recovery tab, make sure first, second, and subsequent failures are set to Restart The Service and click OK (Figure B). Right-click the service and select either Start or Restart. Once the service has started (or restarted), go back to the Quick Books database server manager and rescan the folder. When the files appear, go back to one of the clients and attempt to connect.
Then open the Quick Books database server manager and click Add Folder (Figure A). If you still get a connection issue, here are some troubleshooting tips: On occasion, the problem with the data file connection is the server.
Figure A Once you add the folder, click the Scan button and all data files within that folder should appear in the Quick Books company files found area. In the Services window, search for the Quick Books server manager (Quick Books DB20 for newer versions). If older database managers are running, stop them and set them to Disable. When this happens, I move the hosting of the data file to one of the client machines until the issue with the server is resolved.
So to take the test farther I then told that computer to host the QB file and connected another computer to the computer hosting the file (straight though no switch just direct connection) and the computer hosting the file was working great.
